4/03- Crap! I don't keep up with this page at all do I ? Well I havn't been doing a lot. I have been unemployed since November 02, and that has kept the interesting stuff pretty low. Here is what is up: OCCP still going strong, I am looking for fresh ideas and fresh faces to keep it going, I sent out a mass email but got a pretty lame response. I have been going to a few other late night reading occasionally since I don't have to be anywhere in the morning. I have been several times to a Saturday night reading at Bills Records, tapes CD's. ( In Richardson) It's pretty cool, mostly a younger crowd. A group of us from OCCP somtimes makes the trip up there after our reading has wound down. SOmetimes Gordon, Metta Jon, and myself. I have also visited Lucky's in Deep Ellum on Wednesday nights several times. It's fun, but a bit challenging with the bar noise. The Guy that hosts the reading is Named Brian Kawanno. He is a cool guy and he just engeenered my first spoken word CD for me. It's called Waiting by the Watershed, and I hope to start selling them this coming weekend. ALso the Oak CLiff Circle will have a slot at the Annual Deep Ellum Festival this Sunday 4/6 3pm. I always look foreward to this every year, its one of my favorite events. This is the same festival that I met my wife at in 97. I'll be hosting our hour. Brian K's group will be just following us.....

3/4/02 i got word today that the OCCP slot this year at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival will be Sunday April 14th at 2:00. Cool.

3/2/02 Metta Jon was a guest Writer for the Dallas Morning news today. the piece was about the differences in religions, specifically buddhism, this url may or may not bring you there: http://www.dallasnews.com/religion/stories/column_02rel.ART.6f02e.html

3/1/02 I have several additional pieces now published at unliklystories.com, and should have a couple more on the first of next month at thundersandwich.

2/?/02 My mother had a copy of the Arlington Newspaper, and there was a picture of me. Opal and Dick from the half price books reading, I cut this out for the scrp book. I love being in the papaer, even if it's just an around town picture.

1/23/02- The Oak Cliff Circle of Poets Featured at The Wenesday reading at The Arlington Museum of Art. We came with a large group this time and the performance was great! We had, Paul Sexton, Neal Ostman, Jim Dolen, Janelle Dubois, Opalina, Carlos Salas, Jeremy Kleindl, Fran Carris, Dick Severns, and Ron Wilcox.

1/20/02- I went with Thais, & Anando to the Half Price Books in Arlington. We met Opalina, Carlos, Paloma, and Dick Sevrens there. they have a group that meets there one Sunday a month. It called the Melinium Poets. It was nice.

1/8/02- Holiday months have been pretty dead for poetry, at least in my world. Today I got an email from a site that I had submitted a couple of pieces to back in October. It is a site about Dallas, and everything therein. Its called "Dallas View" He put up 2 of my pieces " Lonsome Highway" and "An Oak Cliff Tail" you can check them out here: http://members.aol.com/GilRGlover/dallaspoems.html or from my links page. We have an OCCP feature coming up this month (23rd) at the Arlington Museum of Art. I'm trying to get as many OCCPers as possible out there. It sounds like fun. I scoped out the reading last month and liked it.

10/20/01 The Festival in Fort Worth Was cool. I ended up doing the 30 min slot my self. No one else I talked to could make it. I got Nando on Stage, and the poor little guy had his first experiance with stage fright. He loves reading at the open mic's, but I think perhaps the crowd was too large here and it freaked him out a bit. He was going to do his poem, but then he just put his fingers in his mouth and stared at the crown in amazment. It was kind of funny actually.

10/18 Today I had several pieces published on a site called Dallaspoets.com. It is a cool site, It is intended to showcase Dallas poets on the internet. I also had SWOD, OCCP and my site added to their links section. I also had all three sites linked to http://www.luckydogbooks.com/dalwrite.html on the "Dallas Poets & Writers Index". It is a site run by paperbacks plus I think). Oh yea, I also had SWOD linked to a different site today, kind of a new age health store tyoe group with an extensive index of all kinds of sites ( a portal?). It's at yearstoyourhealth.com

10/15/01 We have been invited to do a 30 min slot at an arts festival in Fort worth this weekend at 5:00. ( October 20th). They listed it as Paul Sexton of the Oak Cliff Circle of Poets featuring Haiku Baby Nando, as seen in the Dallas Morning News. The boy is going to have a better career than I ever had, by the age of 4.

9/19/01 The feature in the Dallas Morning News comes out! It is great! The pic of Anando is really good and the piece is very good as well. It is all very cute!

9/8/2001 A Dallas Morning News photographer and reporter paid a visit to Suenos Sabrosos at the Oak Cliff Circle of Poets. They were there to do a story on Anando Sexton, the youngest performance poet in the Dallas Area. MANY photos were shot! We havent heard exactly what day it will be in print yet, should be soon, possibly this weekend.

8/27/2001- The last Poets Corner at Preston and Beltline is held. We have had a LOT of fun at this store and it will be sad not to have it as a venue, especially for some vague corporate reasons. However we should be able to restart in October at a bigger store on Northwest Highway and 75, details will be forthcoming.

8/2/01 I have been published as one of the feature artist on "unlikely Stories" a literary and visual art online publication. This cool site has several feature artist with their own artist page and examples of their work. It's cool! see links page, and check it out!

7/27/01 NEW BABY!!! Alberto Metta Sexton is Born!

7/12/01 My new Chapbook, Cul-De-Sac at The End Of The World, is now officially available! It is the first chapbook sense 2-99. Good reviews are expected. (fingers crossed)

6/26/01 The Arts Section of the Dallas Morning News Features an article about the Poets Corner reading at Barnes and Noble That Paul and Metta Jon host. The piece includes several quotes from Paul and a large black and white photo of Paul in action performing "Deep Ellum Sunrise"

4/01-5/01 The April/May issue of "Arts DFW" publishes Pauls poem "The Temptress"

4/?/01 The Festival In Deep Ellum Is Cool. The Oak Cliff Poets Do a 45 min Slot with: Paul Sexton, David Weinberg, Neil, Jim Dolan, and Patricia Golden and several times Anando Sexton also takes the stage as well!

3/3/01 We have been invited to host an hour slot, featuring the OCCP at the upcoming "Deep Ellum Poetry festival" the second weekend in April. Details will be forthcoming.

3/1/01 The new edition of Thunder Sandwich goes online with two more Paul Sexton Poems featured.

2/24/01 Paul's Birthday.

2/1/01 "In Our Own Words" is Released!! It's a very good book!

1/26/01- The Feature on Dallas Area Open mics Appears in the Week end Guide section of The Dallas Morning News. Paul is Quoted & The OCCP, and the Poets Corner (Barnes & Nobel are talked about extensively).

1/25/01 Email arrived confirming more Paul's Sexton poetry, including " Poem for a Man That Has Finally Known Love" will appear on the next issue of " Sienna Poetry Suite" ( see links page)

1/23/01 One of my pieces "Samadhi Rain" will soon be appearing on "Tongue, a literary/visual arts magazine" out of Houston, Texas.(see links page)

1/23/01 Thomas Carney left Dallas for Colorado a few years back, and has been working on a novel loosely based on his and Paul's experiences in the late Eighties. He has just signed with a literary agent and a publishing deal is expected soon. Look for details in this space as available.

1/18/01- I speak briefly on the phone with Mike Daniel, a reporter for the Dallas Morning News. He is doing an article on poetry open mics in Dallas. He already shot photos ELSEWHERE, however it looks like the OCCP will get at least a mention!
