nandositepic2.jpg

Anando M Sexton is a young spoken word performance artist. Having yet to master the actual art of writing, his spontaneously spoken Free Verse and Haiku is transcribed by his proud Poet father. Mr.Sexton was born November 7 1998 and has been involved in the Dallas area Spoken Word Scene for nearly three years. He has performed at the Oak Cliff Circle of Poets, Poets Corner at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, The Irving Poetry Society, the Arts Landing Gallery, The Fort Worth Arts Festival in Oct 2001, and the spring 2001 and 2002 annual Deep Ellum Poetry Festivals. A feature article about his work appeared in the Dallas Morning News in August 2001. Recently, when asked about his views on the Dallas spoken word scene, the usually verbose Mr.Sexton responded by simply saying "I'm a poet".

Shark Eats Man

The sailboat rolls into the water,
and the shark eats it.
and the crocodile eats it
and the crocodile eats the shark
and the man goes into the water
and he dives in there.
And then the shark eats the man.
And the shark closes it's eyes,
underneath the water,
and goes to sleep.
You don't sleep underneath the water!
That's kinda weird.
eats the crocodile.
The man goes into the water,
he dives in there,
then the shark eats him.

Then he closes his eyes to sleep.
Wait a minute!
You can't sleep under the water!
That's kinda weird.

Spiral, Horizontal Line Spinning

Moon Haiku

The moon is in the dark.
The moon hides behind
the clouds.
The sun is in the sun.

The moon is not out.
The moon is not anywhere.
We, are in the sun.

In The Car Passing a Park

The trees drove to
morning.

Stop signs
went with the cars
to the park
in Dallas.

The black building
fell apart
in a different park.

On an Ice Cream Run

There is
no better place to be.
There is
no better place to be.
There is
no better place to be.

(What place?)

Right here
here
with you.

Grasshopper

That grasshopper
in the grass,
he is loud!

He hurt
my ears.

He is loud,
then
he jump up
and bit
my butt.
